So this woman comes up to me when I was working in the mall. She is looking at the tiger hat and then I show her the giraff hat (oh yeah we've got them all :P) and then she starts talking about how these african (the giraff anyways haha) animals look like in real life, including elephants, hippos and more. And what god must have been thinking when he created them, haha I had quite a hard time not laughing there. She said that he must have thought about how hard it is for people to live in Africa so they need something funny and beautiful to look at. And about the giraff's neck she said that he probably did a mistake and made it way too long haha! I didn't wanna say anything about evolution and that there is a purpose for how the animals look like, in case she would resent it. So yet again, I do meet some very interesting or special people in my job.

Yesterday I was working at the restaurant, it was quite busy, I think more people go out eating the closer to christmas it gets. I had a really good ham and cheese omelt with pancakes with syrup on for lunch - yummi! One of the advantages´working in a restaurant, you get free food :D After work I bought some postcards which I intended to send as christmas cards but they're probably not going to get to Sweden in time, anyways it's the thought that counts right? In the evening I had a super nice dinner with Alex and Kyle (the couple I'm staying with right now) and James, to celebrate Alex's university graduation! Went to a pub afterwards and played some dart - fun night!

Hello hello!
Long day of work today, first in the mall and then the afternoon shift at the restaurant and too little sleep in addition to that, gaash I'm tired. Well I shouldn't complain, I get some money in which I need! Had a good day at work today, on the first shift I sold a lot so yes please to some comission there :) I played with my small helicopters and talked to costumers... There are some really funny people I get to talk to. Once there was this old man who started to ask questions about the helicopters and then went into that he was building some kind of flat flying object, sounded like an UFO thing to me, and that he would use the same mechanisms as in the toys. I nodded and agreed and tried to look interested in case he wanted to buy something later, but then he started to talk about how he was going to build these gigantic flying objects which was totally unrealistic haha! And he didn't even buy anything so that was totally waste of my time, but what to do what to do. Another thing that I've noticed is that I start to recognize people that often come to the mall. How bad isn't that, going to the same mall almost every day, worth mentioning is that the mall isn't very big. I bought a pair of mittens (vantar med halva fingrar och sedan som toppen av en tumvante man kan ha antingen över fingrarna eller på baksidan av handen) with my staff discount, yaay, sweet for 5 bucks.

Very busy day at the restaurant today as well, too bad I'm not a server I guess I would have gotten some pretty good tips today. I also got the LMO (Labour market Opinion) Form from my manager today so here starts the process of trying to extend my work visa... Let's see how that goes...

Jag har tänkt att baka pepperkakor i de kommande dagarna, är det någon som har ett bra recept att ge mig, skicka det gärna! Haha skriver detta på svenska eftersom jag vill ha svenska pepparkakor :P

I just got home from the Butchart Gardens which is like a big tourist attraction just outside of Victoria. Even though I've been in Victoria for quite some time I've never been there before. But today I went with Clarissa, a new friend of mine, (she's spending her days as I did before namely working as an au pair) and I had a really good time. In the summer time the gardens are full of flowers as can be expeted of gardens but now during the winter/christmas time, all the gardens were lit up by millions of lights. So pretty!
It was really hard to get good photos but this one gives you an idea of how it was :) We just walked around on all the different paths for quite some time and then we listened to people singing and playing christmas carols.

I've been working pretty much this last week but I had the saturday off and spent that day sleeping, hiking up mount doug with Clarissa and finishing the day with a typical swedish julbord with the swedish club of victoria. I went there with the half-swedish guy that works in the store next to mine in the mall and to put it shortly we definitely decreased the average age at the dinner. But it was fun anyways, got some good food, sang some swedish christmas songs and got to speak a bit of sedish :) Tomorrow is it work in the mall again, selling my hats and heliopters and on wednesday it's back to the restaurant. Bedtime for me now, hope you're all doing fine :D

I've been working every day this week and been sleeping way too little. This results in that I am tired obviously :P So tonight I guess I'll just chill out and maybe watch a movie and sleep, looking forward to it. My both jobs are going fine and I like to work and make some money again.

Yesterday we had the last ultimate practice of the season and after we had a sweet little potluck (knytkalas). I found out about the whole thing a bit late so the only thing I could contribute with was a froxen chocolate cake bought in the grocery store. Compared to all others home-made casseroles, soups and stews it felt a bit bad :P Anyways it was the only dessert so it was appreciated. We also had some nice feedback from the season, pretty much like write down good things about aall the other players. I got comments about everything from "Don't go back to Sweden", to "Your flick breaks are sweet" to "I really like your blue eyes". Haha yeah you get the point of what we were doing. The night ended with a bunch of special charades :)

It's already the 8th of December and christmas is getting closer, all the christmas stuff are popping up everywhere but still I can't really get any christmasy feelings... Maybe they will come if I start to bake some gingerbread and lussbullar.. Yeah I think I have to do that :)

So it was not a good idea practicing on wednesday, my cold got worse, obviously. My friday was the worst, I was working at the restaurant and I could barely speak, coughing and sneezing all day... My only help was to drink lots of tea with honey :) Anyways now the old is gone and I worked my second shift at my new job. I'm working in one of these kiosks that are in the middle of the aisle in a shopping mall, and I'm selling animal hats, wool socks and shoes and radio-controlled toys.

I've never really done anything like this before, so it is a bit of a challenge but I'm getting better. I definitely sold more items this second shift compared to my first one. In both my jobs I chat quite a bit with many different people, and one in a while people comment on my accent. The first time a man asked if I was from South Africa, I don't really know what poeple sound like down there but maybe it's close..? And today a costumer asked if i was from New Zealand, and Kiwis I have talked to and I don't think I sound like them at all haha. I also had a swedish man buying from me today and we started talking and it ended up with that I got invited to a dinner with the Swedish Club of Victoria (which I didn't even know existed) on saturday :)

Jobb och träning
Jobbade på restaurangen idag (Brannigans Restaurant) som värdinna. Det innebär mestadels att visa vart gästerna ska sitta och att servera dem dryck. Det var ganska lugnt så jag hade inte så mycket att göra, men jag klagar inte; det är ganska skönt att inte ha så mycket att göra när man är förskyld. Ikväll är det ultimate träning som gäller, en av de sista innan 'juluppehållet'. Annars är det inte så mycket nytt här :P
